Studies show that children need to learn how to interact positively with others, self-regulate or control their behavior and talk to their peers, family members or adults. By helping families learn and better understand their child/ren’s range of feelings and how to communicate with others, children learn to effectively communicate their needs to parents, when they are feeling frustrated or how parents’ actions may make them feel.
When parents observe their children’s challenging behaviors, this can create stress on families, especially when they don’t know how to respond positively to their behavior. In this section, providers can share resources to help parents gain new insights into their child/ren’s behaviors and decision-making processes and can practice new skills that will help them.
